Nous souhaitons partager avec vous les vœux de Women’s Forum

As 2017 is drawing to an end, we would like to invite you to look back at this year with us.

Gender Equality

Gender equality is a long-term battle. Progress on gender equality is far too slow and countries need to do much more to close gender gaps worldwide according to the OECD report “the Pursuit of Gender Equality, an Uphill Battle”. Because if all countries were to match the progress toward gender parity in the workforce of the country in their region with the most rapid improvement, as much as $12 trillion could be added the annual global GDP growth in 2025 as McKinsey measured in their 2017 Report “Women Matter: Time to Accelerate”.

Our 2017 Forums

To add to global efforts on tackling gender inequality, the Women’s Forum for the Economy & Society has been around the world, providing women and men a timely and diverse platform to voice their opinions on global issues, to promote diversity and unleash their leadership.

Women’s Forum Rome 2017

After the Brexit vote, an urgent need for more dialogues on the future of Europe emerged. Consequently, the Women’s Forum was in Rome to celebrate the 60th year of the Treaty of Rome, and to discuss how to approach “Revitalizing Europe with women’s energy for peace and prosperity” from 26-27 June 2017. Our objective is to mobilize women’s energy, to bolster and restore confidence in Europe and to build new bridges between Europe and all Mediterranean countries.

Women’s Forum Global Meeting 2017

As the world experienced further waves of profound and abrupt transitions in 2017, it is imperative for public and private organizations to embrace new ideas, to “Engage for Impact! Daring to lead in a disrupted world” as the theme of Women’s Forum Global Meeting 2017. This year, for the first time the Global Meeting of the Women’s Forum moved from Deauville to Paris. Why Paris? Because it is a global city and embodies our ambition to internationalize and become a truly leading global platform.

Women’s Forum Mexico 2017

Challenging times in America: therefore the Women’s Forum convened in Mexico to “Unleash your leadership” on 8-9 November in Mexico City, dedicated to the unsung heroes who demonstrated incredible civic engagement during the consecutive earthquakes. This second edition brought together women and men for debates intended to accelerate national renewal, support individual leadership growth to turn challenges into opportunities, especially in view of the most important elections held at the same moment in Mexico in 2018.

Partnering with companies, media groups and non-governmental organizations, the Women’s Forum has long been involved in an ambitious series of Initiatives for the long-term promotion of our key goals in gender equality. Some example of Women’s Forum initiatives:

CEO Champions

This year in partnership with the McKinsey & Company, with support of the 30% Club and the OECD at the Global Meeting in Paris, the CEO champions workshop convened more than 50 leading figures to discuss how to build a diverse and inclusive future and how to drive progress for women’s advancement in the private and public sectors. In Paris during the workshop, the CEOs decided to launch the very first Women’s Forum index to promote women in governance and integrate best practices in their companies.

In Mexico, the action moved beyond the talking and asked the members to take a concrete action of sponsoring at least one woman and to do their utmost to advance her professionally. After the workshop, there are now over 50 women who will be sponsored.

Rising talents

2017 also marks the 10th Anniversary of Rising Talents, 10 years of promoting young talented female leaders and bringing forward the vision of rising generations. We have more than 200 Rising Talents joining the Women’s Forum network from more than 50 countries. Our Rising Talents are also the representatives of various sectors including Business, Media, Art, Entertainment, Finance & Fintech, NGO & Public Sector, Tech & Social Entrepreneur, 8% Education & Research, and the rest from law and policy, healthcare and others. The Women’s Forum also conducted a survey Inclusion and Impact: The leadership track of the Women’s Forum Rising Talents to look back at the successes of the Rising Talents, their expectations, and aspirations for the future.

2017 is a challenging but also exhilarating year and we are proud of our achievements. This would not be possible without your strong convictions in gender equality, your trustful support and your dynamic participation in our activities throughout the year. Our success is also your success. Thank you!

What’s next?

Now we look altogether forward to 2018 for an even more engaging and impactful year. Transitioning from a think tank to a do tank, we deliver what we promise: concrete actions to promote women in the economy and society.

In 2018 we will launch the first-ever Women’s Forum index to monitor the top 100 companies worldwide regarding gender equality. This index will stimulate a better inclusion and representation and of course we will continue to discover outstanding talents all around the world as well as role models for all generations. We are looking forward to sharing with you new initiatives and surprises…

As the Women’s Forum for the Economy & Society highlights women’s perspectives on global social and economic issues, not only gender issues but humanity’s issues, bridging humanity will be a guiding theme for 2018.
